Catherine Bangel has been telling Edmonton stories to local, Alberta and national audiences for over a decade. Her company, Bangel PR, is a small boutique public relations and content creation firm in Edmonton specializing in storytelling, content creation, and publicity for businesses and not-for profit organizations. She has helped numerous brands uncover their story and share it with heart and feeling to better connect to their clients, partners and public. She has worked with numerous lifestyle companies in the health and wellness, food, design, and fashion industries.
Prior to launching Bangel PR in October 2012, Catherine Bangel’s career as a television and radio journalist spanned more than a decade. Under her maiden name, Catherine Hillerud, she reporter for both CBC and Global News for a combined 15 years. During her reporting career she covered live breaking news including the Wabamun Oil spill, the RCMP shooting in Mayerthorpe, Alberta, Edmonton’s largest residential fire in the MacEwan neighbourhood, and numerous Federal, provincial and municipal elections. She has filed nationally over her career for CBC Newsworld, the National and Global National. Her stories have also aired on U.S networks NBC and CNN.
Catherine left television news in 2009 working for both the RCMP and the City of Edmonton in a communications and marketing role.
While she did not intend to start a PR firm, Bangel PR became what she calls a “happy accident”. Telling stories, making connections and helping Edmonton entrepreneurs find success is her passion. She never wants to quit her day job.
