Tim Gourlay is the founder and CEO of Fitset, Edmonton’s multi-studio fitness pass. Tim is also a former professional athlete and is convinced that life is just better when you’re physically active regularly. This belief was part of the original inspiration for starting Fitset and it is Tim’s vision to bring Fitset right across Canada. Fitset’s mission is to create cohesion in the fitness industry that supports fitness business’ in better accessing their local markets and inspires Canadians to live a more active and healthy lifestyle.
Tim is also passionate about using business as a tool for good. He was the Chapter Leader for Net Impact at the University of Alberta during his time in the MBA program, a student-led organization whose mission is to inspire, educate, and equip individuals to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world. Less than 1 year after he founded Fitset in 2015, Tim led a community initiative called POPYEG (Power Over Poverty YEG) where he leveraged his 80+ studio partner relationships to create a month-long series of “karma fitness Pop-ups” raising over $20k for the iHuman Youth Society. Tim is also a key part of Edmonton’s Workplace Wellness Think Tank which provides the opportunity for open and candid conversations between a community of wellness and organizational experts to share advice and ideas to overcome challenges. The group is in its infancy, however the goal is that together they can positively disrupt the workplace wellness industry and reframe the way we work.
